NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Toyota Mod Classic 150 Set For Saturday
Race Advance by Souza Media HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – Last time Justin Bonsignore visited Oswego Speedway, he left with the trophy and checkered flag in his hand. This time, he’s going back to the Western New York oval in the thick of a championship battle where he’s chasing his fourth NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour title. Bonsignore will return to Oswego as part of their Classic weekend this Saturday, September 2, for the Toyota Mod Classic 150 at 7:30 p.m. With just six races remaining in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, and four of them in the next five weeks, Bonsignore has his sights set on the title. He’s currently second, one point behind Ron Silk in the battle for the crown. In seven career Oswego starts, Bonsignore has top-five finishes in all but one of them. He’s finished on the podium five times at the ‘Steel Palace’ and has been top-five in all but one NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event so far this season. “Oswego has been good to us since we started going there,” Bonsignore said. “We had a strong car last year, a little bit of strategy played a role in the finish and we were able to come out with the win. The next few weeks are going to be important for our Phoenix Communications team. We’re looking forward to kicking off the stretch during Classic weekend at Oswego – certainly one of the more high-speed tracks we visit with a fine line to having success.” The schedule for Oswego includes final practice from 2-3 p.m., qualifying at 5 p.m. and the green flag for the 150-lap race at 7:30 p.m. The race will air live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. LANGLEY, Va. -- Justin Bonsignore had a day that was all around solid on Saturday night in Virginia.
In the CheckeredFlag.com 150 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Langley Speedway, Bonsignore was inside the top-five in practice, qualifying and the duration of the race. When the checkered flag went in the air, Bonsignore finished in the third spot in the Kenneth Massa Motorsports No. 51. The finish was yet another top-five in his 2023 season. In 12 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races, Bonsignore has been top-five in all but one of them to go along with his three wins. He now sits just one point back of Ron Silk in the championship battle heading for the final six races of the season. "Congrats to my cousin Kyle (Bonsignore, winner), it's been a long time since he's won," Justin Bonsignore said. "We will take gaining one point on Silk tonight. We were a little too free on the first run and started the second run a little bit too tight. We will go onto Oswego. We've been really good at all of the upcoming tracks, but so is Ron... Hopefully it will be a good hard battle the rest of the way." Justin Bonsignore will return to the track on Saturday, September 2 at Oswego Speedway for the next race of the Whelen Modified Tour season. Virginia Oval To Host NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour CheckeredFlag.com 150 Saturday
Race Advance by Souza Media HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – Fresh off a win at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, and victories in the last two NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races in general, Justin Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team will return to work this weekend. The Whelen Modified Tour is heading south to Langley Speedway in Virginia on Saturday, August 26, for the CheckeredFlag.com 150. The 12th race of the Whelen Modified Tour season will begin a busy stretch for Bonsignore. After Langley, events at Oswego (September 2), Monadnock (September 9), Riverhead (September 16) and North Wilkesboro (September 30) will make up a busy stretch of five races in six weeks. It will be followed by two races in October to crown the 2023 champion. Bonsignore is second in the series championship standings, just two points behind leader Ron Silk. Both drivers have three wins during the 2023 season. In three previous Langley starts, Bonsignore has been inside the top-five at the finish of all of them. He’s also been top-five in all but one race this season on the Whelen Modified Tour. “Langley is a tough track,” Bonsignore said. “Having great turn through the center of the corner and good drive off are equally important to having success there. We’ve had some solid runs over the years at Langley, but certainly we are excited to get back there and try to improve on our package to be there at the end of the race with a shot to win.” Langley’s race day schedule includes NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice from 3:15-4 p.m., followed by qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The green flag for the CheckeredFlag.com 150 is set for 8 p.m. and will air live on FloRacing.TV. THOMPSON, Conn. – Justin Bonsignore hadn’t won at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park since 2019, but Wednesday night, he reminded everyone on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour why he leads all active drivers with wins at the oval.
Bonsignore’s Kenneth Massa Motorsports team sent him off pit road first after a pit stop around halfway, then Bonsignore held off the charges of Doug Coby, then Ron Silk through multiple restarts to score his 13th career Thompson win. The victory tied Bonsignore for second all-time in Thompson wins with Ted Christopher, only trailing Mike Stefanik, with 15. The victory was also Bonsignore’s third of the 2023 season (Riverhead, Loudon) and his 10th top-five finish in 11 races this season. “After we won seven out of eight here, then the runs we started having were a bit frustrating for us,” Bonsignore said of Thompson. “The car was really good. We missed it a little bit, too tight on the first set of tires, but on the second set, it fired off so well. This is a really big confidence booster. This is my favorite track – and to bounce back like this and to lead half the race… it was a total team effort to win this one.” Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team will be heading to Langley Speedway in Virginia for the next NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race on Saturday, August 26. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – For the first and only time in 2023, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will run a mid-week event this Wednesday, August 16. Justin Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team will make the trip to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut for Wednesday’s Thompson 150 presented by FloSports. The 11th race of the season will come at a place where Bonsignore has historic numbers. He’s parked the No. 51 in Thompson’s Victory Lane 12 times, a number that leads all active drivers, and is third all-time. Bonsignore only trails Mike Stefanik (15) and Ted Christopher (13) for the most wins all-time on the Whelen Modified Tour at Thompson in 150 previous races. Bonsignore will enter the race second in the Whelen Modified Tour championship battle with just eight races remaining in the battle for the title. Bonsignore is eight points back of the lead heading into Wednesday’s Thompson event, the first of two at the Connecticut oval remaining on the 2023 schedule. The other will take place at the Thompson World Series in October. “Thompson has been a place where we’ve definitely had a ton of success over the years,” Bonsignore said. “Winning at Thompson usually means you had a good car on the long run and made the right adjustments on a late pit stop to put yourself in position. We’ve been lucky enough to get 12 wins there. We are just taking this race like every other and planning to come out of there with a strong run, maximizing our day. Ryan Stone and the team have prepared another great car for Wednesday.” Bonsignore has top-five finishes in all but one race on the Whelen Modified Tour this season. Nu-Way Auto Parts 150 Set For Saturday With NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
Race Advance by Souza Media HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – Justin Bonsignore heads across the state of New York this weekend, as the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will roll into Lancaster Motorplex for the Nu-Way Auto Parts 150 on Saturday night, August 5. In what has become the 10th race of the season due to the rain at Claremont Motorsports Park last weekend, Bonsignore is still the most recent winner on the series, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 15. The three-time series champion is ready to begin a busy August this weekend on the Whelen Modified Tour - with events at Lancaster (August 5), Thompson Speedway (August 16) and Langley Speedway (August 26) marking upcoming events. Once August ends, the true battle for the championship will be on during a stacked September and October as Bonsignore chases his fourth title with Kenneth Massa Motorsports. The series veteran knows every race matters. But, as it has been for his entire career chasing wins and championships, he just takes it one race at a time, and aims to get the best out of each race day. “We ran there back in 2021 and we had a good finish with second,” Bonsignore said. “It’s another track we don’t have a ton of laps on with the Whelen Modified Tour, but we always enjoy the efforts of figuring out different tracks in our series. Some guys have more laps there in other divisions, so they will be tough to beat. We’re looking forward to the challenge ahead of us heading into Lancaster.” Saturday’s schedule for race day at Lancaster includes one Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 2:20-3:20 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5 p.m. and the green flag for the race is set for 8 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV.
