J&R Precast 150 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Set For Saturday, June 1
Justin Bonsignore and the Ken Massa Motorsports team are preparing for battle at Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts this Saturday night, June 1. Bonsignore will drive the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Inc. machine in the J&R Precast 150, the sixth race of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. Bonsignore is a former Seekonk winner in Tour competition - rocketing to Victory Lane in 2018 - in the midst of a season that ended with his first career championship. Bonsignore has since won two more titles. Overall, he has four top-five finishes in five career Seekonk starts and has 103 laps led at the Massachusetts third-mile. “The race at Seekonk last year was completely different than anything we had experienced before, with some new pavement in the corners,” Bonsignore said. “Now that we have a race under our belt with the new pavement, we’re excited to head back there and use what we learned last year. We’ve been consistent to start 2024, but Ryan Stone and the guys in the shop have been working hard to keep improving our program.” The schedule for race day at Seekonk includes one NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 3:10-3:50 p.m., followed by single-car Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5:20 p.m. and the green flag for the J&R Precast 150 at 8 p.m. Tickets for race day are available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. The track will also have NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions in action - the Late Models for 50 laps, along with the Sport Trucks and Sportsman for 25 laps each. The show will begin with a special ceremony honoring the life of the late Carl “Bugsy” Stevens at 5:30 p.m. Bugsy was a former Seekonk and NASCAR Modified champion, who passed away last week. Justin Bonsignore Grabs Third-Place Finish at Riverhead Raceway
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Justin Bonsignore continued his streak of top-six finishes to open the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season on Sunday afternoon at Riverhead Raceway. Bonsignore brought the No. 51 Phoenix Communications machine home in third in the Miller Lite 200 presents Wayne Anderson. The New York native posted his 24th top-five finish in 28 career Whelen Modified Tour starts at Riverhead. Bonsignore started fifth on Sunday, one day after a heavy mist in the air postponed the Miller Lite 200 Salutes Wayne Anderson. He would fall just outside the top-five early, but then charge back inside and remain there for the duration of the race. He was up to second at one point, but Austin Beers slid by late, eventually finishing second to winner Ron Silk. “We were a little off today but all in all, a good day for our Phoenix Communications team,” Bonsignore said. “We will get back to work on continuing to work on our cars and be ready for Seekonk in a few weeks.” Justin Bonsignore will return to the track at Seekonk Speedway for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Seekonk 150 on Saturday, June 1. HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 16, 2024) - Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announced Thursday that three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion (NWMT) Justin Bonsignore will drive the team’s No. 19 Toyota GR Supra in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) on Saturday, June 22. The June 22 race at NHMS will mark Bonsignore’s first career NXS start, but he is no stranger to the Magic Mile. The 36-year-old driver has made 25 NWMT starts there over the past 14 years. In those 25 races, he has two wins in points-paying events and one in a non-points race, along with 10 top-five finishes. His most recent New Hampshire win came last September. “We’re thrilled to have Justin in our car at New Hampshire,” said Steve DeSouza, EVP NASCAR Xfinity Series/Development at JGR. “He’s a driver with a rich short-track racing resume and represents the heart of modified racing in the northeast. To put him in one of our cars at a track that he's built a legacy at is going to be a lot of fun for us, and even more so for the fans." Bonsignore is a familiar face in the modified world with three tour championships and 41 NWMT wins since 2007. The Holtsville, New York native picked up his first NWMT championship in 2018 and followed it up with back-to-back championships in 2020 and 2021. Those 41 wins put him fourth on the all-time NWMT win list – just one win behind third. Bonsignore has 31 career tour pole awards, which also ranks fourth on the all-time list. The NWMT is four races into their 2024 campaign and Bonsignore has one victory, which came at Richmond Raceway in March. He is currently second in the tour standings, six points back from the lead. “Having the opportunity to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing at New Hampshire is truly the chance of a lifetime,” Bonsignore said. “I love driving modifieds and that will always be my home, where we hope to win many more races and championships. But, having the opportunity to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with such an established, winning organization like Joe Gibbs Racing is such an exciting chance on this national stage.” Bonsignore will be running double duty at New Hampshire as he makes his NXS debut and then jumps into his modified to run the seventh race of the NWMT season. The NXS race at NHMS is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, at 3:30 PM ET. Coverage of the race will be on USA Network, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. About Joe Gibbs Racing: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) is one of the premier organizations in NASCAR with four NASCAR Cup Series teams, four NASCAR Xfinity Series teams, an ARCA Series team, and a driver development program. JGR is based in Huntersville, N.C., and owned by 2020 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Joe Gibbs, who also earned his place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and was named as one of the NFL’s top 10 coaches of all-time with a winning career that included three Super Bowl Championships as head coach of the Washington franchise. JGR has competed in NASCAR since 1992, capturing more than 400 wins over that span. No team has more combined wins across the sport’s three national series in the history of NASCAR. In addition, JGR has won five Cup Series championships along with four Xfinity Series driver championships and six Xfinity Series owner’s championships. The organization also has captured four Daytona 500 titles, considered to be NASCAR’s premier event each season. Justin Bonsignore has the opportunity to make more history on Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway.
With a win in the Miller Lite 200 Salutes Wayne Anderson, the three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion would burst into the all-time lead for Tour wins at Riverhead. He is currently tied with Mike Ewanitsko with 11 career wins at the New York oval. Bonsignore has finished first or second in his last five Riverhead starts, and has been top-five in 18 of his last 19 races there. “Riverhead is home for us,” Bonsignore said. “We’re definitely looking forward to getting back to New York and trying to get another hometown win. We’ve had a consistent start to the year with our Phoenix Communications team. With 200 laps, you have to manage your equipment and make sure to be there in the last 50 laps with a shot at the win.” Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule at Riverhead includes final practice from 3:30-4:15 p.m., Mayhew Tools qualifying at 6 p.m. and the green flag for the Miller Lite 200 Salutes Wayne Anderson at 8 p.m. For more information on three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore, visit JustinBonsignore.com and follow him on social media. Justin Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team will return to competition this Saturday, May 4 at Monadnock Speedway. The Granite State Derby 150 marks the fourth race of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule for the 2024 season.
Bonsignore has five career Monadnock wins to his credit, all since 2013. He has won three of the last four Whelen Modified Tour races at the track, and has also finished inside the top-10 in all 11 of his career starts at the Winchester, New Hampshire oval. He’s been top-five in all but one of them. To say the least, it’s a track Bonsignore is familiar with. But, Saturday brings a new journey for competitors, as the first event with brand new pavement on the track, which was put down during the offseason. The Granite State Derby 150 also marks the first of three in the 2024 running of the Whelen Modified Tour Granite State Short Track Cup - a bonus program with the trio of events at Monadnock with added bonus cash incentives. “We’re excited to get onto the new pavement at Monadnock,” Bonsignore said. “The track had a lot of character before they paved it, and the new pavement is definitely going to change some things with the way you drive the car and the way the cars are setup. We will see what challenges it throws our way and go out there and make the most of our day.” Saturday’s Monadnock Speedway schedule includes NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice from 1:15-2:15 p.m., followed by qualifying at 4:15 p.m. and the drop of the green flag for the Granite State Derby 150 at 6 p.m. For the latest information on three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore, fans are encouraged to visit JustinBonsignore.com and follow his Athlete page on Facebook for updates.
