HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. -- Two months after a power outage forced the race to be postponed, Justin Bonsignore is hoping to capture the $10,000 check this Wednesday, August 25 at Seekonk Speedway. Bonsignore will return to Tri Track Open Modified Series competition for the fifth time this season in the 100-lap Speed51.TV Modified Madness. He will drive the No. 00 entry prepared by Jimmy Paige and Steve Lemay in the special event. In June, Bonsignore won his qualifying heat at Seekonk, earning him $300 in the Pepsi Challenge. However, a combination of a bad weather forecast and a power outage in the area postponed the race nearly two months. Since then, Bonsignore has a seventh-place finish at Star Speedway and a third-place finish at Monadnock Speedway in Tri Track action. He’s hoping to improve on those efforts and capture the big money on Wednesday night. “Starting ninth and looking forward to seeing what we can go out there and do in the battle for the $10,000,” Bonsignore said. “Thank you to the team for their hard work to get the car ready.” The schedule for a full night of racing includes practice from 5:30-6:10 p.m., followed by the drop of the green flag for the 100-lap feature around 7:30 p.m. The NEMA Lites and 350 SMAC Supermodifieds will also be in action. All tickets and pit passes that were purchased for the original Wednesday, June 30, date, will be honored on Wednesday if the ticket holder still has them in their possession. Additional tickets will also be available at the track for purchase for those who couldn’t make it the first time. The race will also be live on Speed51.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- Justin Bonsignore drove the Kenneth Massa Motorsports prepared entry to an eighth-place finish on Saturday, August 21 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Bonsignore ran inside the top-five for a good portion of the Rumble at the Ridge 200, but the team decided to pit late for a fresh tire and Bonsignore couldn’t quite charge to the front. The Holtsville, New York, native, maintained the championship points lead in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour chase with four races remaining in the season. “We had a pretty good car, and we had an extra tire in the pits and we wanted to try and take it late and the car just was really tight,” Bonsignore said. “You have to go for it every now and then, but it just didn’t work out for us tonight. We will be ready to go to Oswego.” Justin Bonsignore will return to the track with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Saturday, September 4, at Oswego Speedway in New York. Bonsignore’s next time behind the wheel will be Wednesday, August 25 at Seekonk Speedway in the Speed51.TV Modified Madness, worth $10,000 to the winner. Bonsignore will wheel the No. 00 machine for Jimmy Paige Racing from the ninth starting position. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. -- Justin Bonsignore will continue his quest for a third NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship this Saturday, August 21, at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. As the Whelen Modified Tour heads back to the Maine oval for the first time since 2005, Bonsignore leads the championship standings by 12 over Patrick Emerling. In the first nine races of the season, Bonsignore has eight top-five finishes, including one feature win at Jennerstown. In his last 50 Whelen Modified Tour starts, Bonsignore has 18 wins, 39 top-fives and 35 top-10 finishes. His grip on new race tracks is also impressive, with the Holtsville, New York, native winning in his first start at Jennerstown in 2020, winning the tour debut at White Mountain Motorsports Park in 2020, and finishing second at Lancaster Speedway just a few races ago. He’s excited to try and do it again this weekend in the state of Maine. “I’m definitely excited for another new race track,” Bonsignore said. “Not sure what to expect, but we will watch a bit of video going into it and see what we can learn. Hopefully we can have a good run and keep our momentum going. We are into that final stretch. We just have to keep doing what we are doing and we will be in contention for it.” The race day schedule for the Rumble at the Ridge 200 includes one Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 2:50-3:50 p.m., and an autograph session behind the grandstands at 5:30 p.m. The Mayhew Tools pole award will be determined at 6:30 p.m., followed by the drop of the green flag in the 200-lap event at 7:30 p.m. The race will air live on NBC Sports Gold through TrackPass, and will also be tape-delayed on NBCSN on Sunday, August 29. WINCHESTER, N.H. -- Justin Bonsignore’s day didn’t start the best, but it ended with a strong third-place finish at Monadnock Speedway on Saturday, August 14. Bonsignore drove the No. 00 Jimmy Paige machine to the podium finish in the fourth round of the Tri Track Open Modified Series season on the high-banks. The day started with a bad draw in the heat race, which forced the Holtsville, New York, native to fall to the rear of the field early in the 12-lap contest. From there, Bonsignore decided to save his tires and take his chances in the 100-lap race. At the beginning, he rode in the rear of the field and saved his equipment for when it mattered most. Bonsignore stayed out when leaders pitted at lap 42 and rode inside the top-five for the remainder of the race. A green-white-checkered finish at the end gave him one more shot at eventual winner Chase Dowling, but Bonsignore settled for third after Matt Hirschman slid by. It was the first top-five finish with Bonsignore as a combination with the Paige team. “The draw was tough for us and we couldn’t go anywhere in the heat,” Bonsignore said. “It almost worked out. Our car was really good. We had a second-place car tonight and we finished third. Steve (Lemay, crew chief) and I just keep getting better together. It was a good run for us.” Justin Bonsignore will return to the track on Saturday, August 21, with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Maine. Bonsignore leads the championship standings on the tour in quest for his third career championship. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. -- A busy 2021 summer slate for Justin Bonsginore rolls on this Saturday, August 14, with another round of Tri Track Open Modified Series racing at Monadnock Speedway. Set to compete for Jimmy Paige in the familiar No. 00, Bonsignore will look to improve on his fourth-place finish at Monadnock in May. During the first stop at the New Hampshire bullring, Bonsignore started at the front, but backed up through the field to save his equipment, and charged back to the front after a pit stop late to score a top-five run. Since then, the car overheated at Star Speedway in May, and Bonsignore finished seventh in the last Tri Track event at Star on July 24. He’s hoping to get to Victory Lane this weekend at Monadnock -- a place where Bonsignore does have victories in Whelen Modified Tour action -- including in 2020. “We struggled a little bit there in May and hopefully we know where we need to start the race this time and we make the right adjustment on the pit stop,” Bonsignore said. “I’ve only worked with Jimmy, crew chief Steve Lemay and the team five or six times total. The car has been fast the whole season, and we have come a long way as a group together. Only racing six times each year, for us to get on the same page, it’s tough. But we are making better adjustments every single race and we continue to grow.” Saturday’s Monadnock 100 begins with one practice session from 2:30-3:30 p.m., followed by the start of qualifying heat races at 5:30 p.m. The 100-lap feature is estimated to take the green flag at 8:45 p.m., and will air to a live audience on Speed51.TV. Tickets will be available at the track for those who are interested in seeing the race in person. JUSTIN BONSIGNORE LEADS WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS HEADING TO BEECH RIDGE8/10/2021 By Souza Media/Kyle Souza
ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- Two-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore leads the championship point standings once again as the series heads for Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Set to compete in the Rumble at the Ridge 200 on Saturday, August 21, Bonsignore and more than 20 of his closest challengers will head to the state of Maine to race at Beech Ridge for the first time since 2005. The race marks the ninth of the 14-race schedule for NASCAR’s oldest touring series, and Beech Ridge, a flat oval located just south of Portland, Maine, will host another event promoted by JDV Productions. This will be the third and final race of the 2021 season promoted by JDV Productions, led by Josh Vanada. Bonsignore, who has never taken laps around the track, will hope to become a quick study in order to contend for another victory. “I don’t put a lot of crazy effort or research into new tracks, I’ll try and watch some YouTube videos of onboard or old footage just to get a quick idea,” Bonsignore said. “It’s more or less just going out there and feeling it out. I watched one video for the Whelen Modified Tour race at Lancaster Speedway a few weeks ago, and I walked the track for the first time since probably my go-kart days. I adapt well to the new race tracks. Our cars are always good off the truck. I seem to have the instinct of being in the right places at the right time.” In his last 50 Whelen Modified Tour starts, Bonsignore has 18 victories, 38 top-five finishes and 44 finishes inside the top-10. It’s clear that since Ryan Stone left NASCAR Xfinity Series team JR Motorsports and took the job leading the Bonsignore train with Kenneth Massa Motorsports, the Holtsville, New York, driver has been nearly unbeatable. Even if he is not winning, he’s contending for the podium positions at the end of the race. As Bonsignore says, Stone is one of the best in the business, and he can trust the car will be where it needs to be when he shows up to the track and buckles his belts behind the wheel. “It expedites the learning curve a lot when the cars are great right off the trailer,” Bonsignore said. “Ryan has a great baseline for all of these race tracks, and he might have been to some of them in the past with another driver. With all of his experience, and how thorough and well-rounded he is in preparing the cars and the team, it makes everything so much easier for me. I can just jump in the car and go. I’ll never have any more confidence in someone than I do in Ryan Stone. He’s patient with me, always makes the right adjustments and we have a great relationship. He’s one of the best out there and it’s awesome to have him in our corner.” Like many Whelen Modified Tour drivers, Bonsignore is excited to take laps at Beech Ridge, but also excited to showcase the series to a new audience of fans. As the only NASCAR sanctioned track in Maine that will have the Whelen Modified Tour this year, the grandstands should be full for the 200-lap contest. “It’s huge,” Bonsignore said. “To get into these different markets, the fans in the area will normally have to travel to watch us race, whether down into New Hampshire, or somewhere else. For them to have a race in their backyard, it will be packed, and people will be excited. It’s huge for us to get down into newer markets and get new eyes on the Whelen Modified Tour. I like going to new facilities to race -- it makes you more well-rounded as a driver and I enjoy trying to conquer the new tracks.” As part of a full night of racing, some of Beech Ridge’s local divisions will also hit the track on Saturday, August 21. The green flag for the Rumble at the Ridge 200 is expected to drop at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $40 per person and are available in advance at JDVProductions.com. Tickets and pit passes will also be available at the track. Additional information will be released the week of the race. For more information on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, visit nascar.com. STAFFORD, Conn. -- Justin Bonsignore came up just one spot short on Friday, August 6, in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour’s return to Stafford Motor Speedway. Driving the No. 51 Kenneth Massa Motorsports machine, Bonsignore entered the race with no wins in 39 career starts at the Connecticut half-mile, and left with none in 40 starts. However, Bonsignore’s second-place finish in the GAF Roofing 150 was enough for the Holtsville, New York, native to extend his points lead on the Whelen Modified Tour circuit with five races left in the season. Bonsignore struggled in the first half of the race, but the pit crew and crew chief Ryan Stone went to work during a late pit stop, gaining Bonsignore a few spots and giving him a shot at the win. Bonsignore would lead laps late, but NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Preece, who had one more fresh tire on the car with a different pit strategy, was able to slide around and score the win. “Ryan had the best car here all day, we struggled at the beginning, got the caution we needed and came in and got two rear tires and our car was really good during the last run,” Bonsginore said. “I would have loved a new ride-front tire there, but all in all, it was a really good day for us. I can’t thank my whole team enough. We are onto Beech Ridge.” Justin Bonsignore will return to the track on Saturday, August 14 at Monadnock Speedway with the Tri Track Open Modified Series. The next NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race on the schedule is Saturday, August 21 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Maine. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. -- Heading back to Stafford Motor Speedway, it’s no secret that Justin Bonsignore is winless at the Connecticut half-mile. This Friday, August 6, the Holtsville, New York, native will look to break that streak and carry the checkered flag for the first time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour GAF Roofing 150. Bonsignore has zero wins in 39 career Whelen Modified Tour starts at the half-mile, but has come close to tasting winning glory before. He has 12 career top-five finishes at Stafford, including four second-place finishes. In April’s NAPA Spring Sizzler, Bonsignore was running inside the top-five late before contact in front of him collected his No. 51 Phoenix Communications ride, forcing him to a finish outside the top-10. Bonsignore enters Stafford with the points lead on the Whelen Modified Tour circuit -- six points ahead of Patrick Emerling as the season heads for the stretch run. “There are so many people that talk about the winless streak and like to rag on me about it. I used to worry about it a lot more years ago and probably didn’t run well because of it, but since Ryan Stone has been with us, we’ve gotten a lot better at Stafford,” Bonsignore said. “We’ve had a shot to win there if things would have played out our way. It’s a tough track with everything going on there, with the pitting rules and everything else that comes into play, with more strategy involved. We have been really good the last two races -- as a team we have been getting better. I don’t know what we found -- but the speed in our cars is better and we’ve had a shot to win the last two races. We are firing on all cylinders. I’m just as confident as I am going into any other race as we head to Stafford. One of these days it will happen, if it is meant to be.” The Stafford event will be followed by the tour’s return to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on August 21, then four consecutive weekends of racing in September to crown the 2021 champion. Bonsignore’s Kenneth Massa Motorsports team is ready to roll down the stretch in contention for a third championship. Practice for the Whelen Modified Tour will last for one hour, from 3:45-4:45 p.m., with Mayhew Tools qualifying beginning at 6:20 p.m. The 30th annual GAF Roofing 150 will go green around 9:15 p.m., and will air live on TrackPass via NBC Sports Gold. All of Stafford’s local divisions, including the prestigious SK Modifieds, will also be in competition. Whelen Modified Tour drivers will have an autograph session in the grandstands at 7 p.m., where Bonsignore will have t-shirts, hats and hoodies for sale. You can also purchase them online at JustinBonsignore.com For more information on Justin Bonsignore, visit JustinBonsignore.com and follow his Athlete page on Facebook for the latest updates. |
