HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – With just two races remaining in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, Justin Bonsignore is set to return to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park this weekend. Bonsignore will compete in the Phoenix Communications No. 51 for Ken Massa Motorsports, entering the weekend tied for second in the series championship standings. The three-time and defending champion is only three points behind leader Jon McKennedy with just two races left. With Thompson’s high-banks looming, Bonsignore is carrying momentum after winning the last two Whelen Modified Tour races at Oswego Speedway and Riverhead Raceway. In his career at Thompson, the New York native has 12 career wins in 40 starts there. “We’ve had a strong few races and looking to keep that rolling into Thompson, a place I’ve always enjoyed racing at,” Bonsignore said. “We’ve performed well at Thompson many times and even though we were a tick off there in August, we’re excited to go back with a little bit better package and compete for the win at the World Series. It’s a large weekend with a lot of racing and a lot of eyes on Connecticut.” Thompson’s World Series schedule includes practice and Mayhew Tools qualifying on Saturday, October 8. The green flag for the Sunoco World Series 150 is slated for Sunday, October 9. The Whelen Modified Tour race will air live on FloRacing.TV. RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – For the second straight NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race, Justin Bonsignore was celebrating in Victory Lane on Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway. Competing at his home track in New York, Bonsignore dominated the early stages of the race after pacing practice and winning the Mayhew Tools Dominator Pole award in qualifying. For the first time, infield pit stops were a factor at Riverhead, and pit strategy did play into the decision of who won the 256-lap special event, in honor of the late Ed Partridge, former owner of the track. In the end, Bonsignore’s crew chief Ryan Stone called him to pit road when the caution flag flew at lap 182, then Bonsignore chased his way back to the front to get back to Victory Lane. The win was the fourth of the season for Bonsignore, and it comes at the perfect time – as the three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion has closed the gap to just a few points in the championship standings with two races to go in the season. The victory was his 35th career, and his ninth at Riverhead – the most of all active drivers. “It’s a shame we lost Eddie Partridge last year, but it’s unbelievable what Riverhead does each and every week to honor him,” Bonsignore said. “I’m so happy they keep the racing going for all of us. This is the best car we’ve had here, and I think we could have won it in 200 laps. Momentum is a thing and now I’ve knocked off two wins in a row.” Bonsignore will return to the track at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park as part of the 60th Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing on Sunday, October 9. Following Thompson, only the championship finale at Martinsville Speedway on October 27 remains in the season. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – With three races remaining in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, Justin Bonsignore and the No. 51 Ken Massa Motorsports team are heading back home this weekend. On Saturday, September 17, Bonsignore will compete in the Ed Partridge 256-lap race at Riverhead Raceway, as the Whelen Modified Tour honors the late track owner in a truly special event. The race will mark the first at Riverhead’s quarter-mile that includes live pit stops in the infield of the bullring. The race surely will present new challenges teams haven’t faced previously at Riverhead, and Bonsignore is ready for the challenge. The local hometown driver finished second in the July stop at the track, and has eight wins in 23 career starts – a stat that also includes 19 top-10 finishes. “We are really looking forward to this race for a lot of reasons,” Bonsignore said. “Honoring Ed is going to be a special night, with more laps, and a pit stop thrown in, in the infield, there is a lot going on and it adds a bunch of new elements to an already interesting race. With just three races left in the season, our goals are to win as many races as possible and let everything else fall where it falls.” Bonsignore enters the race third in the series championship standings, 17 points back, with only Riverhead, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (October 9) and Martinsville Speedway (October 27) remaining on the 2022 schedule. Riverhead’s race day schedule for the Ed Partridge 256 includes one practice session from 3:15-4:15 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 6 p.m. The green flag for the Ed Partridge 256 is scheduled for 8 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. Bonsignore Holds Off Late Charge For Third Whelen Modified Tour Win of Season at Oswego Speedway9/4/2022 By Souza Media
HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – For the 34th time in his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career, Justin Bonsignore was celebrating in Victory Lane on Saturday night. Bonsignore rocketed to his third win of the season in the Toyota Budweiser Mod Classic 150 – holding off a late charge from Chuck Hossfeld to get back to Victory Lane. The victory marked an important step in Bonsignore’s final dash attempt to collect a fourth championship this season. Entering the race, Bonsignore was fourth in the standings, but jumped to third following 150 laps. He sits 17 points back of leader Jon McKennedy, with Ron Silk in between the two, heading for the final three races of the season. “We’ve kind of been like a bunch of brothers that have been giving each other a lot of crap lately,” Bonsignore said of his Ken Massa Motorsports team. “So this is a good medicine to solve that, I think. We’ve been struggling. We hold ourselves to a high standard and it’s been an up-and-down summer. A few issues in the summer put us behind and we haven’t had the speed or consistency week in and week out. We got it good tonight. We’re not out of the points yet – so we’ll move on to Riverhead and see what happens.” While some others pitted late in the race, Bonsignore and crew chief Ryan Stone made the decision to stay out, then the Holtsville, New York, native bested Chuck Hossfeld to grab the win in the final laps. It was Bonsignore’s second victory at the ‘Steel Palace’ of Oswego, both coming on Classic weekend. Justin Bonsignore will return to the track on Saturday, September 17 at Riverhead Raceway in New York. The event will mark the first in the history of the Whelen Modified Tour with infield pitting and is set for 256 laps in honor of the late Ed Partridge. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – Three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore is heading to Oswego Speedway this Saturday night. Bonsignore will compete in the Toyota Budweiser Modified Classic 150 as part of Classic weekend at the historic New York oval, with just four races remaining in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. Bonsignore sits fourth in the championship standings heading for the stretch run, and will be focused on capturing the checkered flag in Saturday’s main event. In his career at Oswego, Bonsignore has top-five finishes in all but one of his starts, including a victory in 2019. A trip across his home state to celebrate Labor Day is on deck. “Oswego is a tough place,” Bonsignore said. “But we’ve had success there before with our Phoenix Communications team and we’re looking forward to heading back there this weekend. Racing at Oswego on Classic weekend makes it one of the top events of our season. The Classic is such a well-known event and to have the Whelen Modified Tour there just makes it even more special.” The race day schedule for the Toyota Budweiser Modified Classic 150 begins with final practice from 2-3 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools pole qualifying at 4:30 p.m. The drop of the green flag for the main event is slated for 7:30 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV, for those who can’t make it to the track. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – Justin Bonsignore and the Ken Massa Motorsports team are heading south this Saturday, August 27, with just five races remaining in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. Bonsignore will compete in the Checkeredflag.com 150 – as the Whelen Modified Tour returns to Langley for the first time since 2018. In two previous starts at the track, Bonsignore has two top-five finishes. Last time, Bonsignore led 25 laps and finished second to Ryan Preece after 150 laps at Langley. This time around, the three-time series champion will hope to use Langley as a boost to close the gap in the championship standings, where he sits fourth, 25 points from the lead, heading for the stretch run. “Langley is a flat track where drive off the corner matters a lot, especially late in the race,” Bonsignore said. “We’re looking forward to heading back down to Virginia. We have two races out of the five left this season down south and we always enjoy hitting the road for a race weekend. We are coming off a top-five finish at Thompson and look forward to building on that at Langley.” The race schedule for the Checkeredflag.com 150 at Langley includes one practice from 3-4 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The green flag for the Checkeredflag150.com race is scheduled for 8:30 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. THOMPSON, Conn. – Justin Bonsignore scored a fifth-place finish on Thursday night in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour return to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. In the Phoenix Communications 150, Bonsignore qualified in the fourth spot, and ran inside the top-10 for most of the race. In the final laps, he charged up into the bottom of the top-five and survived a few late restarts to retain his position. The 12-time Thompson winner didn’t add another victory to his list at the Connecticut oval, but it was a solid night for the team on a special night, with multiple Phoenix Communications employees in the house. “We can’t thank Phoenix Communications enough for sponsoring our team and the race as a whole at Thompson,” Bonsignore said. “We worked hard to get back into the top-five and grab what we could in the final laps of the race. We’re looking forward to returning to Thompson later in the season for the World Series.” Justin Bonsignore will return to the track on Saturday, August 27, at Langley Speedway in Virginia for another round of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour racing. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – For the first time in his career, three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore will head to Claremont Motorsports Park this Friday night. Bonsignore will compete in the 10th race of 16 on the Whelen Modified Tour schedule – the Clash at Claremont 150 – against some of the top names in Modified racing. Chasing a winning prize of over $11,000, Bonsignore will look to gain crucial experience during practice and qualifying and prepare for battle at one of New England’s toughest tracks. The tricky corners, different on both ends, often produce a different driving style compared to other short tracks in the region. The race is also the final in the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup. Bonsignore’s No. 51 Ken Massa Motorsports team enters the race trailing the leader by just five points, with a $5,000 championship on the line to the team who scores the most points over the three races. There is also a $2,000 bonus to the team that finishes second, and $1,000 to the third-place finisher. “We’re always excited to visit a new track with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour,” Bonsignore said. “We’re looking forward to the challenge of figuring out the track quickly and contending for not only the win in the race, but the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup title. Ending the month of July on a high note is important to us.” Claremont’s race day schedule includes one Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 4:30-5:30 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 6:45 p.m. The drop of the green flag for the Clash at Claremont is scheduled for 8:45 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – The second half of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season begins Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and three-time series champion Justin Bonsignore is ready to roll to the Granite State. Ready to compete in the Whelen Manufactured in America 100 at the Magic Mile, Bonsignore will look for his second career points-paying win at the New Hampshire oval. Through eight races so far during the 2022 season, Bonsignore has two wins and sits inside the top-five in the championship standings. New Hampshire is known for high-speed, drafting, and intense finishes coming to the checkered – and Bonsignore has been involved in many of them. Although he only has one points-paying win, Bonsignore has a victory in the non-points Whelen All-Star Shootout and also has finished inside the top-five in nine of his races. Last year, he led 63 laps and finished second. In his last six New Hampshire races, the Holtsville, New York, three-time Whelen Modified Tour champion has led 281 laps. “We’ve performed well at Loudon over the years,” Bonsignore said. “It’s always been a wild card race during the season because of the pack racing, but having a strong car and staying out of trouble and getting to the last few laps is always the name of the game. Anything can happen in the final couple of laps. Winning at New Hampshire on the same weekend as the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series races is always special. We were able to win on Cup weekend at Richmond Raceway earlier this year and we should have a good shot at doing it again this weekend. This is one of those crown-jewel races for our series.” New Hampshire’s race day action will be split up into two days. Friday will include practice from 3:15-4:30 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools Pole Qualifying to conclude the day at 6:45 p.m. The Whelen Manufactured in America 100 will take place on Saturday, July 16 at 6 p.m. The day will also include the NASCAR Xfinity Series earlier in the afternoon with the Crayon 200. The Whelen Modified Tour race will air live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track.
