HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – One year after winning at Jennerstown Speedway on Memorial Day weekend, Justin Bonsignore is heading back to Pennsylvania for round five of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season this weekend.

Bonsignore will compete in the Jennerstown Salutes event – where NASCAR and JDV Productions have partnered with Operation Vet NOW Inc. to honor fallen heroes and Gold Star families for the second straight year. Last season, Bonsignore carried the name of Air Force Staff Sergeant David Weiger to Victory Lane with him and celebrated post-race with the Weiger family during Memorial Day weekend.

In three career starts at Jennerstown, Bonsignore has two wins and a fifth-place finish. In all three races, the three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion won the Mayhew Tools pole award. For 2022, Bonsignore will carry the name of Navy Petty Officer Third Class Robert Gilbertson on the roof of the No. 51 Phoenix Communications machine for the 150-lap event.

“I’m looking forward to getting out to Jennerstown, it’s a great area of our country and one we have enjoyed the last few years,” Bonsignore said. “This event is a special one with everything NASCAR and JDV Productions are doing to honor fallen heroes and Gold Star Families. Winning the Jennerstown Salutes race last year was an honor. We remember all of those who have served, and those who continue to serve our country, to allow us to do what we do."

Saturday’s race day schedule at Jennerstown includes one NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 2:30-3:30 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools single-car qualifying at 4:45 p.m. The green flag for the Jennerstown Salutes 150 is scheduled to drop at 8 p.m. For those who are in the area, tickets will be available at the track, but are also available in advance at JDVProductions.com. The race will also air live on FloRacing.TV.

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – Justin Bonsignore and the Ken Massa Motorsports team are heading to Lee USA Speedway this Saturday, May 21, for round four of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season.

The Granite State Derby 175 presented by USA Insulation will mark the first time the Whelen Modified Tour has been to the New Hampshire track in over two decades, and Bonsignore is heading there looking for redemption and to get back on track. Even though the Holtsville, New York, driver won the Richmond Raceway race on April 1, in the other two events during the 2022 season, Bonsignore failed to finish – both with mechanical failures.

However – with plenty of races left to go on the 16-race schedule, all eyes are on Lee, where Bonsignore does have some previous laps in a Modified. Saturday’s race will include tire conservation at one of the most abrasive tracks the Northeast offers, and pit strategy will matter in determining who ends up in Victory Lane.

Bonsignore is excited to get back to Lee and see how it all shakes out.

“We’re looking forward to getting to Lee USA Speedway and coming out of there with a strong run,” Bonsignore said. “All we can do is keep our heads down and do what we know we can do, and let the rest play out. Lee is a difficult track with tire conservation and it should be interesting to see how all of the strategy plays out at the end of the race.”

Saturday’s race day schedule at Lee USA Speedway will include one Whelen Modified Tour practice from 1:40-2:40 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The green flag for the Granite State Derby presented by USA Insulation is set for 7 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV. Fans can purchase tickets in advance at JDVProductions.com and also at the track on race day. The event includes the Granite State Pro Stock Series, NHSTRA Mini Stocks, Pro 4 Modifieds, NEMA Lites and the Whelen Modified Tour.

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – After just over one month off, three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore is heading home this weekend. The Holtsville, New York, competitor will race in the Whelen Modified Tour Miller Lite 200 at his home track – Riverhead Raceway – coming off a victory last time on the track at Richmond Raceway.

After cutting his teeth at Riverhead in NASCAR weekly series competition, Bonsignore competed in his first Tour race at the quarter-mile in 2007. Since then, he’s been to Victory Lane in 8 of 21 races, and been inside the top-five in 18 of those starts.

Last year, Bonsignore finished third twice – and second once – in the three races at the track. Prior to last year, Bonsignore had been to Victory Lane in four consecutive Whelen Modified Tour races at Riverhead.

Entering the race, Bonsignore has the victory at Richmond, and a 31st place finish at New Smyrna Speedway in February, where the No. 51 Phoenix Communications machine suffered a mechanical failure. Bonsignore is ninth in the championship standings, 20 points from the top, with two of 16 events completed.

“We’re looking forward to carrying some momentum from our win at Richmond into Riverhead this weekend and getting back to work,” Bonsignore said. “Even though we had some time off, the next month is going to be busy for the Whelen Modified Tour and our Ken Massa Motorsports team. Hopefully we can get the busy stretch started off on the right foot this weekend at Riverhead.”

Riverhead is the first of three consecutive weeks of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour racing – which will also include stops at Lee USA Speedway on May 21 and Jennerstown Speedway on May 28. The Whelen Modified Tour will also return to Riverhead two more times during the 2022 season.

Saturday’s race day schedule at Riverhead includes one NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 3-4 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools pole qualifying at 6 p.m. The green flag for the Miller Lite 200 is scheduled for 8 p.m., and will air live on FloRacing.TV.

LATE PASS GRABS JUSTIN BONSIGNORE WHELEN MODIFIED WIN AT RICHMOND

4/1/2022

Picture

RICHMOND, Va. — Three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore rocketed to his 32nd career series victory on Friday evening at Richmond Raceway.

Bonsignore won his 20th career Mayhew Tools Dominator Pole in qualifying – and ran inside the top-five for most of the race – however — in the final 20 laps — Bonsignore was looking out the windshield at Tommy Catalano, who was looking for his first win. Bonsignore closed the gap in his No. 51 Coastal Fiber LLC machine for Ken Massa Motorsports — made the pass — and drove away to Victory Lane in the final laps.

The win gave Bonsignore sole possession of 5th place on the all-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins list — jumping him ahead of Doug Coby and Jeff Fuller. Bonsignore finished last in the Whelen Modified Tour opener at New Smyrna Speedway in February, after a mechanical failure, hurting his chances of becoming a four-time champion early. But the Holtsville, New York, native intended to begin his climb out towards the top on Friday — scoring his first career win at the Virginia oval in the process.

“We just had that long run balance we needed,” Bonsignore said. “We really appreciate Coastal Fiber coming on board and Phoenix Communications, our primary sponsor, along with all of our product sponsors and our whole team. This is a small step in digging out of the whole we have, but it’s a good way to put everyone on notice that they’re going to have to put us down if they want to beat us.”

RACE RESULTS: Richmond Virginia is For Racing Lovers 150

Coastal Fiber, LLC, is a local Virginia business that is a full service fiber optic construction and splicing company. Owned by Mark Langevin, the owner of Phoenix Communications Inc. – Bonsignore's normal primary sponsor – Coastal Fiber, LLC, was excited to be back on the car at Richmond for the second straight year.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track at Riverhead Raceway on Saturday, May 14. That event at Bonsignore’s home track will be the next stop on the veterans 2022 racing schedule. HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – After a month off, three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore is heading to Richmond Raceway this Friday night for round two of the season. Bonsignore will compete in the No. 51 Ken Massa Motorsports, Coastal Fiber, LLC, machine in the Virginia is For Racing Lovers 150.

Bonsignore’s season didn’t get off on the right foot – as a mechanical failure sidelined the defending series champion early at New Smyrna Speedway in February. With one race down and 15 remaining in the 2022 Whelen Modified Tour season, Bonsignore is all eyes forward to Richmond – a place where he’s no stranger to speed.

Last year, Bonsignore qualified on the Mayhew Tools Dominator Pole – one of his five in 2021 – and led 21 laps before a mechanical failure ended the night early. This time, Bonsignore is looking to finish the deal. The entire team will welcome Coastal Fiber, LLC, back to the car as sponsor for this event. Returning for another year of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour racing down south, Coastal Fiber, LLC, is a local Virginia business that is a full service fiber optic construction and splicing company. Owned by Mark Langevin, the owner of Phoenix Communications Inc. – Bonsignore's normal primary sponsor – Coastal Fiber, LLC, is excited to be back.

“We’re excited to get back racing and try to get some momentum going with our 2022 season,” Bonsignore said. “We had a strong car at Richmond last year and before our mechanical failure –  we had a car that would have been in contention to win the race. Being on the big stage with the NASCAR Cup Series on these weekends is always great for the Whelen Modified Tour. We are all happy to have Coastal Fiber on the car and looking forward to having a strong showing in Virginia for them and all of our partners.”

It’s time to begin the 2022 season.

After a shorter offseason compared to past years, Justin Bonsignore and his No. 51 Ken Massa Motorsports team are ready to roll with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season-opener this weekend at New Smyrna Speedway.

The New Smyrna Visitors Bureau 200 will mark the first time the Whelen Modified Tour season begins in Florida, and also will be the first points-paying event to be contested in the Sunshine State.

Bonsignore won the last two series titles and three of the last four. With 31 career wins to his credit, he’s looking forward to trying to add the half-mile to his tour win list, while opening the chase for a fourth championship with a strong run.

“It’s a huge step forward for our series to open our season during Speedweeks at New Smyrna, it’s special,” Bonsignore said. “All of the eyeballs will be on us. It’s an honor to be part of it. We’re just going to take this one race at a time, but our goal each year is to contend for the championship. We want to get off on the right foot. We want to try and win the race, but if we can’t, come home with a good top-five finish and get things rolling for the year.”

The Holtsville, New York, native does have previous experience around New Smyrna as part of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in the Tour-Type Modifieds. The half-mile hosts a nine night racing spectacular which will also include the ARCA Menards Series East, Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, Tour-Type Modifieds and more from February 11-19. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event will headline action on Saturday, February 12.

“Never been there with Ryan Stone setting up the car and I’m confident with what Ryan brings to every track,” Bonsignore said. “We’ve had some success in the years we went down to New Smyrna and we used it as testing for our program. I’ve won there before and we are familiar with the track. It’s a long race, multiple pit stops and the Tour drivers… so it will be different but we’re confident.”

The day begins with the only practice session from 2-3:20 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools pole qualifying at 5:45 p.m. The New Smyrna Visitors Bureau 200 is scheduled to take the green flag at 7:30 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV.

Bonsignore will drive Jason Simmons’ No. 98 TQ, the same car that was driven to a Qualifier victory and a top ten A Main feature finish in Allentown, PA two weeks ago by Billy Pauch, Jr.
Simmons, of Fulton, NY, will enter a second TQ Midget, No. 97, with the driver to be determined. He has also filed entries for a pair of Champ Karts, Bonsignore and Simmons struck a deal less than two weeks prior to the Atlantic City race.

2018 Indoor Auto Racing TQ Champion, Justin Bonsignore, was presented the Inaugural TC Championship Cup, named after Ted Christopher at the final event in Albany, NY. (Photo Mike Petrucci)“I have never been able put together a full TQ weekend there though I have run pretty well at times. I’ve had pretty good success overall with the Indoor stuff, but just not as much as I would have liked to have had,” Bonsignore said.

Indoor Auto Racing Series promoter Len Sammons saluted the entry of Bonsignore.

“When Justin raced TQ Midgets with us before, he was a threat the first time he got behind the wheel He’s won before and he can be a contender again,” Sammons noted.

Bonsignore, 34, has three career Indoor Auto Racing Series wins to his credit, in two classes, and in three buildings.

In January 2018, Bonsignore won his first TQ Midget race, in the PPL Center in Allentown, PA. That winning ride set up his run to the 2018 Series championship.

He followed that up with a win at the Syracuse, NY Expo Center on March 8, 2019.

Bonsignore joins the one-two Allentown Indoor Auto Racing Series punch of race winner Ryan Flores and runner-up Andy Jankowiak. Jankowiak has won the last two Gambler’s Classics. Erick Rudolph and car owner Mark Lafler are returning to Boardwalk Hall after missing the Allentown race. The team has won three Gambler’s Classics together.

Promoter Sammons noted the importance to the Indoor Auto Racing Series of the Atlantic City Races, first introduced by Sammons in 2003.

“Atlantic City is the Crown Jewel of the Indoor Auto Racing Series,” Sammons said.

“Indoor Auto Racing is a spectacle in itself, and when the racing is as tightly contested as it was in Allentown a few weeks back, the fans had to be leaving eager for more,” said Series promoter Len Sammons.

Good tickets for the Atlantic City races are on sale now in a range of prices through Ticketmaster, the Boardwalk Hall Box Office or the Area Auto Racing News office at 609-888-3618 weekdays from 10 am to 4 pm.

New for 2022 will be an expanded reserved seating option in Atlantic City. Upper reserved seating has been expanded to include all of sections 209 through 217. General admission seats will be still be available in sections 202-208 and 218-225 for those wishing to purchase those tickets or holding a pit pass.

“The upper level seats in the corner in Atlantic City offer some of the best views of the track, this change will allow people the option to secure their favorite seat in advance,” stated Len Sammons.

First-time Boardwalk Hall TQ entrants include versatile Max McLaughlin, second-generation New England Modified standout Mike Christopher Jr., Shea Wills, in the elderly but still very quick Tim Adams TQ, Champ Kart standout Doug Stearly who will be driving Ken Sebring’s TQ Midget, and Tyler Lindsay, who, in first Indoor ever TQ Midget start in Allentown earlier this month came within a quarter of inch of qualifying for the A Main, but was disqualified by a post-race tech width violation.

No less than four Catalano brothers, from upstate Ontario, NY, are entered for Atlantic City. Timmy, Tommy and Trevor will run TQ Midgets; youngest brother Tyler will campaign a Champ Kart.

An even 50 Champ Karts from eight states (CT, MA, MD, NH, NJ. NY, PA, RI) . Some 31 Slingshots are entered from four states, 27 from New Jersey or Pennsylvania and two each from New York and Quebec.

A closed-to-the-public practice night will again be held on Thursday evening January 27.
New Jersey State public safety rules require the wearing of face covering upon entry into Boardwalk Hall, and recommends wearing of masks when in concourses and walkways inside the building. Masks are not required when seated nor when consuming food or beverages.

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. -- Justin Bonsignore is ready for one more race to wrap the 2021 season.

Bonsignore will drive the No. 51 Kenneth Massa Motorsports Modified, prepared by Ryan Stone, in the prestigious Islip 300 at Riverhead Raceway on Saturday, November 13.

The combination of Bonsignore, Massa, Stone and the entire team is just under two months out from capturing the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship on the heels of two wins this season. In three appearances at Riverhead on the tour, Bonsignore finished third, third and second.

He’s hoping to advance on those positions and become the winner of the fifth annual Islip 300. The event honors the legacy of Islip Speedway and the history of Modified racing on Long Island, and Bonsignore would love to add another hometown win to his credit.

“Racing at Riverhead in front of the home track fans is always something we look forward to doing every year,” Bonsignore said. “We weren’t able to win a Whelen Modified Tour race there this year, but adding the prestigious Islip 300 to our list would be special for all of us. It’s a longer race with a lot of strategy involved, so hopefully we will play our cards right.”

Bonsignore and the team will take part in one practice session from 11-12 p.m., with time trials set to begin just after 1 p.m. The green flag for the Islip 300 is set for approximately 3:15 p.m., and will air live on RiverheadRaceway.TV for those who can’t make it to the track.
