Justin Bonsignore Back on the Podium at Oswego Speedway

Justin Bonsignore wrapped the Bud Mod Classic 150 on the podium Saturday night at Oswego Speedway. In the 11th race of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, Bonsignore qualified the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Inc. machine in fourth spot and remained near the front of the field for the duration of the race.

After a pit stop, Bonsignore restarted on the outside of the front row, and when it all shook out, he was running second to eventual winner Patrick Emerling. Later, Matt Hirschman would also slide around and take second, but Bonsignore remained in third for the rest of the distance.

The finish allowed the New York native to open his Whelen Modified Tour championship lead to five points heading for the final five races of the season.

“The guys had a great pit stop and got us out in the lead of those who pitted but we restarted second there,” Bonsignore said. “I think if I could have got the lead, we could have had the track position to hold them off. All in all, it was a good night for our Phoenix Communications team.”

Bonsignore and the rest of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour teams will be back on the track at Riverhead Raceway on Saturday, September 14.
