Justin Bonsignore capped his fourth NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship in fine fashion on Saturday night at Martinsville Speedway.
Bonsignore captured the victory in the season-finale - the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200 - his 45th career triumph on the Whelen Modified Tour. The win gave Bonsignore sole possession of second on the all-time wins list, breaking a tie with Reggie Ruggerio. His fourth title adds Bonsignore to a historic list of drivers with four titles since the modern era of the Whelen Modified Tour started in 1985. The list includes Mike Stefanik (7), Doug Coby (6), Tony Hirschman (5) and now Bonsignore, with four. Thirty-three of Bonsignore’s career wins have come with Ryan Stone as crew chief since the start of the 2018 season. He’s been driving with Ken and Janine Massa and their entire team for his entire tenure on the Whelen Modified Tour - the 2024 season was their 15th year of full-time racing. “It’s a year of hard work and a lot of ups and downs,” Bonsignore said. “We got hot and three wins in a row to close the year is something I’ve never done in my career. To cap it off with a Grandfather Clock, it’s really awesome. We have a lot of guys on our team that have been with us a long time and this is their fourth title and we have others where this is their first title. Just have to thank Phoenix Communications Inc., Clear Com IT Solutions, Robert Yates Engines, FURY Race Cars… everyone who makes this possible. Especially Ken and Janine Massa, who have changed my life on and off the race track, and Ryan Stone, who works his guts out on these cars. These championships and races are hard to win. There are some really good teams in this garage. It’s really hard to put into words how special this is.” For more information on three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore, visit JustinBonsignore.com and follow him on social media.
