Bonsignore is back to business
7/16/07
After a 10 week hiatus to recover from a shattered right wrist, the long wait is over. This past Saturday night Justin returned to NASCAR Modified competition at the ultra competitive Riverhead Raceway bullring. The goal for the return was to log laps and finish a race this year, which was not achieved since February at New Smyrna. The day was going pretty uneventful till lap 2 of the heat race where Justin was nearly collected in a hard crash off of turn 4, escaping with minor damage, Justin went on to finish 5th and finish within the handicap for the feature. For the feature the jBongs Motorsports team would be slated to start 13th, however that didn't last long as a first lap wreck in which Justin thought he banged wheels with someone forcing him to the pits for adjustments. The race itself was a complete mess with caution after caution, in the end Justin wound up with a top 10 finish, which was just what the team needed to get ready for this weeks Tom Baldwin Memorial 77 lap race.

"Are we there yet?"
6/30/07 BLOG By Justin
As the calendar turns to July, the return to racing looms closer and closer. I feel like a little kid on a long car ride who every 5 minutes asks, "are we there yet?" This past Monday after spending the weekend up near Buffalo, NY turning wrenches at a WKA National Karting event I returned to the doctor for another check up. The healing is right on schedule, the doctor was so pleased with my progress that he took off my splint and now I am free of any form of brace. However it seems that might of come 3 days too late as I earned a really nice tan line from the splint while at the races. As far as racing is concerned we are still working out all of the bills and insurance information, with a expected return to come at the BIG DOGS 75 lap event at Mountain Speedway, next Saturday night, July 7th. I am very excited to make my return and for it to come at Mountain Speedway is even better, that racetrack is one of my favorites, its so wide and very fast for it's small size. As far as returning to Riverhead Raceway, that will have to wait until July 14th it looks like, which for us will serve as a practice week for the BIG 77 lap memorial race on July 21st. Bob Finan said it best a few weeks ago, "Bonsignore can come out and worry about wins, and wins only!" and that is EXACTLY what we are looking to do!
The long road back...
6/15/07 BLOG By Justin
It has been just over a month now since the accident and I am excited and itching to get back in the racecar. I had the surgery back the week of the accident which included some new hardware in my right arm, 17 screws, a plate and some other pieces. Since then I have been in a splint and a hard cast. I have traveled down to the Coke 600, been back to work, and
even back to Riverhead Raceway to watch. The healing process is going as expected and I will have a 100% recovery. The healing is going so well that the doctor took me out of the cast already after only 2 weeks. I now have a brace that s removable. Another week and a half till I go back then hopefully start therapy. I am as eager as ever to get back to racing, the plan as of today is to shake the car down on a Saturday leading up to the highly anticipated 77 lap Baldwin, Evans, Jarzombek Memorial race on July 21st. I will be back that week, no matter what support I have on my arm. However if anyone is in the need of a hand surgeon, I highly suggest seeing Dr. Ellstein at the Long Island Hand Center in Huntington, NY. Till then be sure to stay tuned, with any luck the return of the #28 jBongs Motorsports team will be back sooner then expected.

Sophomore Jinx in full force in 2007
5/18/07
The 2007 season looked so promising for jBongs Motorsports team, however after a very disappointing opening night, the team headed back out for week #2. The car was very good in practice and Justin had his eyes set on a heat race victory, however right off the start contact in turn 2, sent the #28 Double Diamond Realty car hard into the wall, destroying the entire RF end of the car. The team led by Pat Wahl fixed everything, with help from other teams and made it back out with time to practice. The car was very good in the practice. Justin started dead last in the feature, fought radio troubles, missed two big wrecks and looked to head towards a solid top 10 when the cars got stacked up in turn 1 and as a result Justin had the wheel ripped out of his hand, shattering his right wrist instantly. The jBongs Motorsports team will be out for a few months while Justin recovers from surgery and begins the healing process.
Opening night disaster
5/7/07
After two weeks to shake down the car and work out any early season bugs, opening night was here. Months of preparation in hopes of bringing home the first checkered flag of the year, it was all gone in 1 lap. As the field came out of turn 4 for the completion of lap 1, Tom Rogers Jr. got into the back of Justin sending him to the infield and a lap down, the team kept their composure and rallied to finish 16th.
Riverhead Raceway's opening night ONLY days away.

After two weeks of practice to work out and bugs and shake down the new equipment for the 2007 season, opening nights is just days away. With only a few days left till the first race the last minute preparations are being put onto the car, including the vinyl lettering and a final scaling to ensure that everything is 100% and ready to go. The weather is looking great for the weekend and everyone will be chasing the opening night favorite of Chris Young who has won the past two or three opening night features at Riverhead Raceway. Check back early next week for a full race recap of how Justin Bonsignore and the entire jBongs Motorsports made out in week #1 at the 'Head.

Riverhead Raceway first practice in the books!
4/21/07
There could not have been a better day for the jBongs Motorsports team to shake down the car for the first time in 2007. The weather was in the high 70s all day with not a cloud in the sky. The day was very uneventful with only a handful of NASCAR Modified's in the pits, that allowed the team to get numerous rounds of practice. For most of the day they elected to practice on New Smyrna tires that were very worn out, but at the end of the day Justin made the call to bolt on a set of "stickers" and see what they had. Justin was right there among the fastest cars out there today and everything went well, including the brand new Performance Engines Billy the Kid motor.
With the season near, a new title sponsor is announced!

As the days dwindle down to 0 until the first practice, the final preparations are being put onto the #28 modified. The body is back from Blue Point Auto Body and has been remounted and partially vinyled. There is very minimal things to complete in the next few days, one of which includes the car being inspected by the NASCAR officials. Becoming official tonight was the signing of the new title sponsor, Craig Hecht of Double Diamond Realty has signed on for the entire 2007 Riverhead Raceway schedule in hopes to claiming the 2007 NASCAR Modified Championship!
Riverhead Raceway 2007 FAST approaching!
4/01/07
The start of the 2007 Riverhead Raceway season is right around the corner, and there is still plenty of work to be done to the jBongs Motorsports car. Since getting back from Speedweeks in FL, the team took a few weeks off to regroup and spend time with the families. Now the team is back at the shop each and every night, preparing to make a run for the 2007 Riverhead Raceway title. Much of the work has been completed, however there is many odds and ends to be finished up, a brand new CORVETTE body is being hung and will be ready to go for opening practice. The car design has been finalized, and 2007 sponsors will be announced within the next week or two, jBongs Motorsports PR Tom Bonsignore has been working very hard and has put together a great 2007 sponsor package. Check back in the coming days for a further process update and to check in on the new sponsors for Justin Bonsignore and the entire jBongs Motorsports shirts.
California Dreamin'
4/15/07
Starting last Wednesday was a mini mid-week vacation for Justin. He packed up his racing equipment and headed to California for the Redi-Auto Sports Charity event as a "ringer" for the United Spinal Association. No one knew what to expect as this was the first annual event, however it was a nice get away from the busy schedule back in New York. The car ended up being a 6 cylinder mustang, that wasn't the best handling. Overall everyone involved had a very good time, and Justin wants to thank Devera, Billy, Clair and everyone at the United Spinal Association for inviting him to participate in the event!
Bonsignore heading to the "left" coast

Late last week Justin Bonsignore received a email from United Spinal Association regarding a trip to California to compete a charity event at Irwindale Speedway. The event is being held by Redi Auto Sports in junction with the United Spinal Association. Bonsignore along with the other United Spinal team members, including friend Bill Hannigan will compete against other teams. The event is being held the weekend of the Long Beach Grand Prix, on April 12, 2007.
